After Effects Text Style Project & Preset
Created by John Colombo for the collaborative tutorial Text Style Expressions in After Effects 2025 on the Mograph Mindset YouTube channel.
Please note: This project file and preset were created for After Effects 2025, and will not work in earlier versions.
This project/preset are intended to be a starting point for you to customize and use for your own purposes, and it's expected that you'll be doing additional customization as needed.
This is meant to be free. We hope you enjoy these new features and make all kinds of amazing, dynamic text templates!

To use:
Unzip the file, and then either open the .aep or apply the preset using the following steps:
1. Create a text layer.
2. With this text layer selected, go to Animation > Apply Animation Preset, and select the enclosed .ffx file.
- For best results, apply this preset before adding your own text animators.
- For easy future access, I recommend saving this to your User Presets folder: My Documents\Adobe\After Effects CC (Windows) or Documents/Adobe/After Effects CC (Mac OS)
Use the Range Selector in the created text animator to modify the affected range. Change Based On to Characters, Characters Excluding Spaces, Words or Lines, as desired. To change the applied styles, expose the expression within the Source Text property, and modify the appropriate style properties at the bottom (as outlined in the tutorial).
